The Background Behind Burnett Legal Group
Burnett Legal Group was founded in 2008 when Anne K. Burnett left her former law firm to establish a new firm focused on helping families face life’s challenges. Burnett Legal Group believed that a law firm of attorneys who are specialists focused on the day to day obstacles families encounter would create a collaboration between attorney and client that would transcend generations. This family focus was the genesis behind the firm’s motto, “Friends of the Family.”
Initially officing in a small workspace of five offices near Dodge Street, the firm expanded in 2015 into its personally designed two story 12,000 square feet office building with 16 offices. The contemporary design of its 175th and Arbor Street office provides an open work environment that is comfortable and casual for both its legal team and clients.
Building a firm that is exclusively positioned to help families in times of crisis and transition was not without its challenges. The specialization of both Burnett Legal Group was the estate and business planning. The key to the firm’s strategic growth has been to develop new associates and attract laterals who are specialists in the areas of law that impact families. The personal injury practice has expanded to include Joe Risko and Andrew Wilson. The firm also added partners Karen Nelson and Charlie Grimes each with extensive experience in divorce and child custody matters.
Currently the firm has grown to sixteen attorneys in two separate office locations. Burnett Legal Group has partners, associates and paralegals who practice in the core groups of Estate Planning, Family Law and Personal Injury. The firm has attorneys who specialize in real estate, agriculture, employment discrimination, asset protection for elderly clients and guardianship/conservatorship matters. The litigation team supports all our practice areas. The growth in these core areas was deliberate. The goal has always been to have a team of attorneys with specialized practices that are supported by associates and paraprofessionals to provide quality work at a competitive price.
We feel fortunate that we are in a thriving city like Omaha with a compassionate and caring community. Our multiple locations allow us to serve our clients throughout Nebraska and western Iowa. Our family-based practice areas allow us to be positioned to handle the challenges and transitions that families face with quality work at a competitive price.
